SUBMISSION
GUIDELINES
Peccary is currently
open to submissions. Please
send your work to peccarymagazine@gmail.com. We aim to respond in less
than 3 months.
Fiction
Peccary is interested in stories of any genre (except erotica and
politically motivated material) as long
as one or more animals play a central role in the story and as long as
the story is no longer than 3000 words. Humor and stories about
uncommon animals are preferred. Reprints are accepted; just tell us
where the story was originally published. Simultaneous submissions are
welcome, multiple submissions aren't. If your submission is a
simultaneous one, please tell us in the submission and let us know
immediately if it is accepted for publication elsewhere. We are not
interested in poetry.
Fiction submissions should be sent electronically
embedded in an
email. The email's subject lines should read: "Fiction submission:
Title of story (word count)". The start of the email should contain a
brief mention of previously published work if you have any. The story
itself should start with its title and end with the words THE END, so
we know we received the entire piece. Any messages with unsolicited
attachments will be deleted unread.
Non-fiction
Peccary also accepts non-fiction profiles of interesting and unusual
animals. Again, 3000 words is the
upper limit. As with fiction, reprints and simultaneous submissions are
welcome. Please query first using "Article query: Title of article" as
your email's subject line. Queries should include a quick rundown on
the information you expect to cover, your sources and your credentials
(if any). Authors are encouraged to provide their own photographs with
their articles.
Payment
Right now, Peccary is a non-paying publication, but contributors get a
free byline which may be used to
link to a personal webspace or other recently published work. Once
sufficient material is collected, stories and articles will also be
bundled in an anthology. Each contributing author gets a share of the
profits.
Rights
Peccary asks for exclusive first worldwide electronic rights (or
non-exclusive worldwide electronic
rights in case of reprints) for a period of three months after
publication. After that point, stories will be archived online or
removed at the author's request or editor's discretion. If the author
wishes to be included in the anthology, they should also give Peccary
Magazine non-exclusive
anthology rights. Any accepted material gets assigned an expected
publication date. If this publication date is not met, rights revert to
the author immediately.
